Gingerbread Cookies

1 C. butter

1 ½ C. sugar

1 egg

4 tsp. grated orange peel

2 Tbs. dark corn syrup or molasses

3 C. flour

2 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. ground cinnamon

½ tsp. salt

1 tsp. ground ginger

½ tsp. ground cloves

Preheat oven to 375◦

Cream butter and sugar.

Add egg, beat until light and fluffy.

Add orange peel and molasses.

Stir dry ingredients together and then stir

into the dough.

Chill until firm.

Roll out thinly onto sugared and floured

surface. Cut out desired shapes. Add

raisins if desired.

Bake at 375◦ for 8 – 10 minutes.
